What is Shwmae Sumae Day?

The first Shwmae Sumae day was on October 15, 2013 to promote the idea of starting every conversation with shwmae, su’mae or shwdi! The event aims to show that the Welsh language belongs to us all – fluent speakers, learners or those shy about their Welsh. The Day is celebrated annually on the 15th of October.

EVERYONE! It’s an opportunity to have fun and share the language – in the shop, leisure centre, at work, with friends. In the past, it has been celebrated by schools, restaurants, shops, businesses and radio stations.
