Financial Education
At Ysgol Esgob Morgan, we believe that in today’s world it is essential that children are educated and prepared for the financial world that we live in. We need to prepare them to be active and responsible financial citizens and have a secure understanding of how managing finances and budgets can impact on their future lives and careers.
This is important to all of our children and families, and we believe that we can provide a strong foundation in financial understanding and a range of opportunities to learn and apply their knowledge and skills to allow them to flourish in the future and live financially secure and successful lives.
To achieve this and further our curriculum, we are a centre of excellence and continue to develop our delivery of financial education.
What are we doing?
We aim for our pupils to reach Year 6 having opportunities and experiences to develop a wide range of entrepreneurial skills which they can transfer and apply in everyday life to ensure they feel successful, happy and confident in their futures.
We aim for all of our pupils to develop into well-rounded, healthy, confident, self-motivated, self-reflective, creative, positive individuals that can work well as part of a team to take risks and aim high.
Through enterprise, we want to ensure that children face a wide range of challenges which will test their resilience, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. These skills will enable them to be adaptable in the future when applying for innovative jobs we may not have even thought of yet!
We follow the Young Money Primary Planning Framework - Financial Education Primary Planning Framework. All of our year groups work through a sequence of lessons that ensures progression of Financial And Enterprise Education knowledge, skills and attitudes through four key themes:
*How to manage money;
*Becoming a critical consumer;
*Managing risks and emotions associated with money;
*Understanding the important role money plays in our lives.
-
We participate in ‘My Money Week’ annually as well as weaving financial education into our topics. For example F1 topic in year 5 and 6 creates a great opportunity for pupils to raise sponsorship and budget their money.
