Mobile Phones

We have always had a relaxed approach to phones in our school - however, due to the way some pupils have used them in our school recently we are making some changes to safeguard all our learners.

As a school, we recognise that mobile phones, smartwatches and other devices are part of everyday life for many children, and they can play an important role in helping pupils to feel safe and secure.

However, we also recognise that they can prove a distraction in school and can provide a means of bullying or intimidating others. Therefore, Pupils are not permitted to have mobile phones at school or on trips.

In the event of a parent wishing for their child to bring a mobile phone to school to contact them before/after school:

  • The phone must be handed in, switched off, to their class teacher or breakfast club staff first thing in the morning and given back at home (Any phone is left at the owner’s own risk)
  • Mobile phones brought to school and not handed in, or used without permission will be confiscated by a member of staff. Parents / Carers will then be contacted to collect the device at the end of the day and the pupil will not be permitted to bring their phone to school again.
  • Smartwatches: No pupils are permitted to wear a smartwatch
